From one project to a reusable field note
Share the decision, constraint, evidence, and failure that another builder can inspect without copying the context blindly.
A reusable lesson is not a victory summary. It is a compact account of the situation, the choice, what happened, and what another team should verify before applying the idea elsewhere.
Keep the local detail
Describe the setting and constraint that made the decision reasonable. Removing every local detail can make the lesson sound universal when it was conditional.
Publish the evidence boundary
State what was observed, what was inferred, what was not measured, and what remains unknown. A small honest evidence set is more useful than an unsupported claim of broad impact.
Write the transfer test
End with the questions another builder should answer before reuse. The goal is not to copy the implementation. It is to inspect whether the same conditions and safeguards exist.
TAKE TO THE FIELD
Questions before transfer
- Which local constraint shaped the decision?
- What evidence was directly observed?
- What failed or changed?
- What must another team verify first?
The most reusable lesson includes the limits of its reuse.
